SpecWriter Installation & Setup Guide

INSTALL from WEBSITE:

  1. Visit our Download page at www.PowerToolsSoftware.com.
  2. Select the link to download SpecWriter File.
  3. Download the Installation File “SpecWriter365Install.exe” to the folder of your choice.
  4. Use Start | Run to run the file “SpecWriter365Install.exe“.
  5. The Installation Program will…
    1. Create an Icon on your desktop named SpecWriter.
    2. Create a folder named c:\PowerTools\SpecWriter
    3. Copy the file named SpecWriter Master File.xls from the website to the new folder:

2 OPEN the SPECWRITER FOLDER

  1. Double-Click the icon named SpecWriter on your desktop.
  2. This will open a window that will display your SpecWriter files.

START SPECWRITER

  1. Double-Click the file named SpecWriter Master File.xls.
  2. This will start Microsoft Excel and open the SpecWriter Master File.
  3. VERY IMPORTANT: Select Enable Macros if requested.
REMEMBER
ALWAYS ENABLE MACROS
If Prompted
4 ENTER YOUR COMPANY NAME

  1. Select Settings on the menu bar.
  2. Select Contractor Information from the drop-down menu.
  3. Enter your company name as requested.
  4. Select OK.   (You may change this information at any time)
  5. More detailed information on these settings is available in the Settings Menu section of the SpecWriter Manual.
5 SAVE the MASTER FILE

  1. Select File on the menu bar.
  2. Select Save to Hard Drive from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Yes at the 1st caution message.
  4. Select OK at the 2nd caution message.
  5. SpecWriter has been customized, saved, and is now ready to use.
